The other day Dimitri, Gabi and I went to visit The Prehistoric City of Akrotiri. It is located on the Southern end of Santorini. The excavation at Akrotiri began in 1967 by Professor Spyridon Marinatos and is still in progress. Over thirty buildings have been located in the area of 1.2 hectares protected under a bioclimatic shelter. It is a very interesting look back into the past into the Late Bronze Age (1650-1500 BC). Many rooms, jars, buildings and sophisticated structures have stood the strength of time and have been very well preserved.
We had the pleasure of visiting the site when a local pianist was performing live. It was such a beautiful experience to take in the site whilst listening to the soulful sounds of the piano. Check out the video below.
